I. The Physical Body
A. The inherent power of God’s word
1. Colossians 1:5–7 (ESV)
5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. OF THIS YOU HAVE HEARD BEFORE IN
THE WORD OF THE TRUTH, THE GOSPEL, 6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, 7 just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf
see the fruit of hearing “the word of the truth, the gospel” and understanding the grace of God in truth
Titus 2:11–12 (ESV)
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
by the training of the grace of God we’re made aware of sin or of the things that stand in our way of knowing God/ we begin to know God’s mind, His nature and He works in us a willingness to be obedient children of our heavenly father. not obedient to the traditions of men or traditional teachings of men as we’ve seen already the word of God produces the fruit of God, the traditions of men produce legalism
1 Peter 1:14–15 (ESV)
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
B.
Acts 6:7
1. (ESV)7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
a) when souls are saved by the word of God they’re saved to the word of God
b) having come out of traditional “christianity” I feared above all that I might have fallen back into it when I got saved, then God directed me in His word to verses that proved to me that God did the saving and the fruits that were produced could only be a result of His salvation. This impressed upon me the importance of accepting God’s word as the standard by which my being saved had to be maintained
C. , 11:1, 12:24, 17:13, 19:20, 1. 1Th 2:13
2. Rom.1.16
